Studies have explored many facets of English language education, such as language policy, curriculum implementation, and the connection between English and cultural identity. However, there is a dearth of studies that explicitly address the relationship between these ideas and the shift in Indonesian language classroom pedagogy from methods-based to post-methods. Thus, more research is required to comprehend how post-methods pedagogy ideas can be successfully incorporated into English language teaching practices in Indonesia, taking into account the distinct linguistic, cultural, and educational settings of the nation. This article covers a brief history of English language instruction in Indonesia, its current roles in Indonesian classrooms, and the needed transition from methodological English instruction to post-methods pedagogy in light of the urgency to enhance the quality of English education in the country. © 2026 selection and editorial matter, Subhan Zein and Fuad Abdul Hamied; individual chapters, the contributors.
