Abstract

Statistical materials are very complex. The interrelationships between sub-matter in statistics require reasoning which is commonly referred to as "statistical reasoning". Statistical learning should improve students' statistical reasoning. One way that can be done to achieve this goal is to establish a "Statistical Reasoning Learning Environment" (SRLE). For SRLE implementation to be directed, it is necessary to have an SRLE Learning Plan available. However, until now researchers have not found a Learning Design for SRLE in Factorial ANOVA learning. Factorial ANOVA is a statistical material that requires very high reasoning. The content of the material contains many concepts, very high-level reasoning is needed to relate one concept to another. This research aims to develop an SRLE Learning Design based on "Guided Inquiry Learning" and "Think Pair Share" (TPS)-Cooperative Learning in Factorial ANOVA learning. Guided Inquiry was chosen because in general students need guidance in understanding and reasoning about basic concepts in statistics, while TPS allows students to have the opportunity to think (T) on their own before discussing (P) in pairs and then to share (S) with all students in the class. This research employs the development method (R & D) of the ADDIE model. Twelve students who were taking the Research Statistics course at the Mathematics Education Study Program, Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University, Yogyakarta were used as research subjects. The research instruments used were ranking questionnaires, lists of reflection questions, and learning achievement tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The result of this research is a Learning Design for SRLE in Factorial ANOVA Learning, and the results of the implementation show that this learning design has a positive effect on students' reasoning. The specifications for this Learning Design include GENERAL INFORMATION (Initial Competence, Facilities and Infrastructure, Learning Targets, and Learning Models), CORE COMPONENTS (Purpose of Learning Activities, Learning Activity), ASSESSMENT, ATTACHMENT (Phenomena, Teaching Materials, Procedure for using the SPSS program, Learning videos), and REFLECTION. It also contains six principles of SRLE, learning stages use Guided Inquiry Learning and Think Pair Share-Cooperative Learning. © 2025 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
